A Guide to Cycling in Gateshead - Tyne and Wear
For ease of description the various cycle routes in Gateshead
have been broadly split into two types with a further section on related topics.
Recreational Routes
This section describes the National, Regional and Local cycle routes within Gateshead that are mainly off road using
dedicated cycle and railway paths, which may include some short sections on quiet roads.
These routes will be described in both directions
and will include links to connecting cycleways.
Commuting Routes
This section will describe the cycle routes radiating
out from the town centre that are mainly on road.
A general description of the route will be given.
Miscellaneous
This section will contain information about
Mountain Biking centres, Bike Shops etc.
Note
Some routes fall within both categories in which case they will be found under Recreational Routes.
