Keelmans Way
A new riverside route is under construction between the mouth of the Blaydon Burn to Newburn Bridge which will bypass the current shared use path alongside the B6317.
Once the first section is completed, the route will in the interium pass through the new Riverside Housing development to join existing traffic free route at Ryton Haugh. Once the developers complete the riverside promenade then the Keelmans Way will follow this all the way to Newburn Bridge.

Newburn Bridge
The riverbank is to be built out under the bridge to allow the Keelmans Way to pass below thus avoiding the steep ramps each side and the crossing over the road.
Winlaton Mill to Ryton via Greenside
A new light controlled crossing over the busy A692 road is now in use for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. This connects to a new - predominently on-road signed cycle route to Ryton via Greenside and onto join the Keelmans Way at Newburn Bridge.
A spur links with the end of the Blaydon Burn route creating two loop routes.
The Ryton Loop and the Blaydon Loop. This route due to the terrain is very steep in places.

Team Valley
Many improvements and upgrades are planned for this area with existing pedestrian only subways and paths upgraded to Shared Use.

East Gateshead
New signed routes from Gateshead Metro Station to the Gateshead College.
New signed link route to Keelmans Way from Gateshead Stadium.

Leam Lane - Whitemare Pool
Link route from end of East Gateshead Cycleway at Whitemare Pool interchange - passing through the subway to join a traffic free path around and into Leam Lane. Leam Lane is being traffic calmed with on road cycle lanes each side until near traffic lights where it goes off-road to join with the existing Follingsby Cycleway. A connection can also be easilly made with Bowes Railpath RCR 11

Derwent Walk - NCN 14
The Butterfly Bridge - destroyed in the floods - is due to be replaced and the track up Clockburn Lonnen resurfaced.
