Cross Lane Cycleway
Introduction

The Cross Lane Cycleway is just over 2.25 miles long and connects NCN 14 Keelman's Way and the MetroCentre to the Tanfield Railway Path at Watergate Counrty Park.

The route is mainly off road with two short sections on road and climbs over 300 feet up from the River Tyne.

Starting from the MetroCentre the route is level, after passing under the Western Bypass A1(T) road it climbs up steeply 300 feet in the next 0.6 miles to the summit near Washingwell Farm.
It then follows the 325 foot contour line to connect to the Tanfield Railway Path at Fulgar Bar.
