Keelman's Way - NCN 14
After passing under the Tyne Bridge - bear right before traffic lights onto shared use path and use the Toucan crossing over the busy road - turn right on SUP then left into Pipewellgate between Night Clubs (L+R).
Cross river link to NCN 72 Hadrian's Cycleway via Swing Bridge
Cross over Swing Bridge and follow road around left to join promenade below High Level bridge

Down river to Tynemouth

Pass the riverside buildings (R) and before car park / start of bus only road, turn right to join the new cycle path along the river edge - continue on this passing under all the high level bridges.
After passing under the Redheugh Bridge - follow the riverside path to Dunston Staithes. Turn left uphill through the new housing to traffic lights at the cross roads.
For link to Teams and Tanfield railpaths turn right before cross road and pass under Askew Road
Turn right to join the shared use path alongside Team Street - pass three gas tanks (L) and over bridge over the River Team.
Bear right staying on Shared Use Path passing under the large wooden footbridge to Tudor Rose PH (R) and ahead on SUP passing new housing (R).
New route will join here from right via girder bridge over R. Team and the new riverside promenade.
Turn right then left behind the Hotel and follow path and back alongside Colliery Road - a little further on, at sign turn right / left onto segregated cycle path and ahead over road to T-Jcn. at the rail bridge (L) - use safe crossing point to cross this busy road.
Note -
There are separate phases at these traffic lights for Buses (accessing the flyover to the Metro Centre) and for other traffic - wait for the correct pedestrian / cycle phase before crossing.
This road can be very busy with traffic to and from the Metro Shopping Centre
especially at weekends.
Traffic light crossing point at Cross Lane / Handy Drive Junction
Using the safe crossing points - turn left then right and left again under the low railway bridge - Take care path is extremely narrow here.

Immediatley turn right alongside rail embankment (R) and follow obvious path ahead under new bus only flyover, a large red footbridge and concrete road bridge to continue on a stoney track alongside railway (R).
Cross over the River Derwent on footbridge alongside of the rail bridge and turn sharp left down ramp to junction of cycle routes.
