EAST GATESHEAD CYCLEWAY

This urban route commences in the Town centre and follows the A184 road (Felling bypass) passing the Gateshead Stadium to Heworth Metro & Bus Interchange.

From Charles Street the route is entirely traffic free following a wide shared or sgregated path along the south side of the A184 road out to the Heworth Interchange.

East Gateshead Cycleway alongside Felling Bypass

Toucan Crossings are provided at the various road junctions plus another that allows you to cross safely to the Gateshead Stadium. (Toucan crossings are shown on the map above by green circle with red bike symbol)

At Heworth Interchange there is a link via the underpass down and through the car park to the Keelman's Way NCN 14.

A new off road shared use path alongside the Felling Bypass is now in use as far as Kirkwood Gardens where it follows a signed route on Sunderland Road before continuing on a shared use path out to the District boundary at Whitemare Pool.
