From the Gateshead Metro / Bus Interchange there are cycle routes leading down to the Gateshead Quays, Keelmans Way NCN 14 and across the River Tyne to Newcastle via the High Level, Tyne Bridges and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Gateshead Quays and Keelmans Way NCN 14
From the Transport Interchange this is along a signed on-road route - it then passes under the very busy A167 - turns right on-road along Coulthards Lane - under the rail bridge and left on Quarryfield Road.

Continues straight over Hawkes Road and steeply down to the riverside to junction with South Shore Road and the Keelmans Way - NCN 14.

For Newcastle Quayside
cross the river over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge to join NCN 72 Hadrians Way

Newcastle via High Level Bridge
Partly on a traffic free route then bus lane then signed on-road.
Newcastle via Tyne Bridge
Partly on a signed on-road route with traffic free sections leading down to the Tyne Bridge approach.
After passing under the A167 road at Coullthards Lane continue ahead passing Bingo Hall (R) - cross Hawkes Road at traffic lights and follow the off-road cycle path around to the Tyne Bridge Approach.
Use the light controlled crossing points to safely cross these very busy roads.
