Route 54 and Route 68 start out in the centre of Derby rising slowly up to the highest point of Mickleover, where they join with the old GNWR Railway now a cycle track. From there they descend the four miles to Etwall, here the Route 68 turns north following quite roads to Ashbourne and the Tissington trail. Whilst Route 54 continues on a well made cycle path to Egginton, splitting at Egginton bridge into the main route to Birmingham and the spin off branch route to Uttoxeter, Both still route 54. Both routes are flat easy riding.
The map below shows Route 54 and it’s divisions.
