Bobs Litter Pick # 3 - 15th March
Our task was to remove litter trapped in bushes and brambles on the side of route 14 in Rowlands Gill.
It was raining and this made it difficult to get a firm foothold on the steep embankments.

Where Gateshead is not in bloom
Report by John Kirkbride - April 9th
Gateshead Council is justly proud of the reputation of its Parks Dept – flower displays in various parts of the borough are a treasure.
The towns annual flower show is a must event for many living both inside & outside the region.

Imagine then my delight as I cycled along the Keelman’s Way in Blaydon recently to behold yet another gorgeous display of colour on the bank side ahead of me, even trailing down to the river Tyne itself. Well done Gateshead! - I thought – a veritable hanging garden of Blaydon. But as I got closer, and my aged eyes focussed more clearly on this riot of colour, my delight turned to horror – this was no flower display, but a litter strewn area of monstrous proportions – a blooming mess!
What should I do? The answer came in a flash – tell Bob!
So great is his reputation if you look in Yellow Pages under “ Litter Control “ – there it is “RobertS – no litter problem too big!” ( well it ought to be )

The rest as they say is history – a site visit followed so that Bob could evaluate the problem and realise despite the valiant efforts of both of us picking for 2 hours, this was a problem the council had to tackle by way of enforcement and/or prosecution.
The powers that be have been alerted and with Bob on the case Gateshead Council’s blooming reputation will surely be restored – don’t rule out however an invite from you know who to litter pick this spot – you’ve been warned!
