Nine Arches Viaduct - Derwent Walk
The Derwent Walk is a mixture of natural woodlands, meadows, riverside and reclaimed industrial land. The Derwent Walk can be used by all, walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Formerly it was the Newcastle to Consett Railway which closed in 1962. This route is mostly off road and there are no steep hills, just gentle gradients. The Derwent walk forms part of the Coast to Coast cycle route. If you want to know more about the Derwent Walk please use this Link:

NCR 14 - Keelmans Way
Blaydon to Bill Quay
The Keelmans Way follows the south bank of the Tyne, mainly on off-road or shared use paths until the Baltic where it is partly on-road until Heworth. Here it re-joins an off-road path to the district boundary with South Tyneside.
The Keelmans Way also extends up river on the south bank to Wylam but is not part of NCR 14.
NCR14 - South Tyne Cycleway
Bill Quay to South Shields Ferry Landing
including Tyne Pedestrain and Cycle Tunnels
NCR 14 continues as the South Tyne Cycleway at first on off-road path through Hebburn Riverside Park - then on-road through Jarrow, passing on route the Tyne Pedestrian and Cycle Tunnels, Bedes World, Jarrow Hall and Monastry. Here the route joins a brand new shared use path through to Tyne Dock where it continues on-road to the finish at the Shields Ferry Landing where it links up with NCR 1 and NCR 72.
