Mile 174.3
From the Gatehouse - leave the Museum and turn right into Baring Street.

Ahead to T-jcn. - turn left along Green's Place - with excellent views over the River Tyne.

Ahead through bollards - passing a block of flats (L) to junction with Mile End Road.
Improvements for cyclists are to be made at this junction.

Mile 174.0
Turn sharp right downhill - at bottom turn sharp left along Wapping Street.

Pass Seamanship Training Centre (R) and pass through chicane (cyclists only) into Long Row.

Cross bridge over old dry dock to junction with Broad Landing. Look for the Galleons in the old dry dock (L) and the "Spirit of the Tyne" statue (R) by the river (R)

Turn right and ahead and cross dry dock - turn right and left onto riverside promenade and ahead to the Shields Ferry Landing Stage.

Mile 173.0
Turn right down link span and use the Shields Ferry to cross River Tyne to North Shields.
