Follow the track alongside the dilapidated wire mesh fence to cross over the A19T) road on the disused rail bridge, at next track junction bear right and down to the A187 road crossing point.

This area between the A19(T) and A187 roads will be used as the construction yard if & when the Second Tyne tunnel is built. The southbound tunnel will commence from here in a huge trench down to the river. Hadrian's Cycleway will be diverted during the work, to the north to follow the Metro rail line embankment and then back to the existing A187 crossing.

Cross the dual carriageway with care - fast traffic both ways.

Follow the segregated cycle lane around the head of the cul-de-sac and ahead along the south side the A187, to the 2nd roundabout.
Cross Hayhole Road, and follow shared use path passing the Royal Quays Shops (R).

Royal Quays Shopping Outlet and carparks to your right, there is a Tourist Information Centre located here at the SW corner of the shopping centre.

171.0 Before the roundabout turn left over staggered Toucan Crossing - turn right along shared use pathway 25m and turn left through barrier into Redburn Dene Park.

171.1 Bear right and downhill, through the "Rugged Landscape". At the multi track junction
(see photo) continue effectively straight ahead - cross "bus only" road and down to the promenade around the The Albert Edward Dock Marina.
171.4 Turn left and follow the promenade around the north side of the dock, under the road bridge, across wooden bridge in front of waterfall cascade and then back under the road bridge again.
171.6 Following segregated cycle path, pass boat yard (R) to the bottom of Ballast Hill Road. Cross over to the other side and up the easy hill on a segregated cycle path.

Turn right downhill on road then segregated cycle path following (NCN14)
direction signs to the Tyne Cycle & Pedestrian Tunnel entrance.

Link to the North Sea International Ferry Terminal
Turn right before barrier and follow cycle path alongside Coble Dene Road, passing Wet and Wild (L) to Ferry Terminal Entrance.

Turn left for Reivers Regional Cycle Route 10 just after entering Redburn Dene.
