| 171.8 | At bottom of Ballast Hill Road - cross over and continue ahead on segregated cycleway around boat yard, under road bridge - left over Chirten Dene and left again back under road bridge. Follow marina promenade around and after 2nd block of houses (R) turn right uphill between two large timber columns to bus only road. |
| 171.4 | Cross road into Redburn Dene Park and continue on wide segregated path uphill through more timber columns to junction. |
| 171.0 | Turn left and exit Redburn Dene park through barrier - turn right on shared use pathway to Toucan Crossing and cross over dual carriageway. |
| 170.9 | Bear left then right to join segegated cycleway alongside A187 road. Ahead to next Rbt. following path around clockwise and back onto SCP - cross bridge and turn left to end of Old Howdon Road. Eastern link to Tyne Cycle Tunnel ** Follow segregated cycle path around and bear right up to A187 crossing. |

| Continue ahead to join off road cycleway - at junction bear left and over A19(T) road bridge, keep left and follow red grit stone path alongside the remains of metal mesh fence. | |
| This area between the A187 and A19(T) roads will be used as the construction yard if & when the Second Tyne Tunnel is built. The southbound tunnel will commence from here in a huge trench down to the river. Hadrian's Cycleway will be diverted to the north to follow the Metro rail line embankment and then back to the existing A187 crossing. |
