| 153.0 | Continue along the railway path, passing Stevenson's Cottage NT (L) and golf course to Heddon Haugh farm. Cross the farm lane through 2 gates (please close gates after use) and on to the end of the railway path, pass through wooden gate into Blayney Row and Claret Millennium Milepost 264W Hadrian's Cycleway follows the line of the old Wlyam Waggonway between Wylam and Blayney Row. This was one of the earliest railways to be built and was in use from 1748 to 1867. Later in 1872 the Scotswood, Newburn & Wylam Railway used the old trackbed. |
| 155.1 | You are now in Newcastle Upon Tyne - Choice of route Via riverside (signed) - turn right down the lane towards the river, passing the cottages at Ryton Island (L) - through control barrier and bear left to join the multi-user path along the riverbank. After passing children's play area, sculpture and Tyne Riverside Country Park Visitor's Centre & Toilets - cross the wide concrete boat launching slipway, and follow the riverside track - skirting the carpark - around to and cross over a small wooden bridge.** On-Road (un-signed) - continue straight ahead on Blayney Row

| 156.0 | ** From the wooden bridge follow the shared use path along the riverbank, passing the "Boathouse" pub and up to traffic lights at Newburn Bridge - cross directly over into lane opposite and immediately turn left through the barrier to join the railway path again at Blue Millennium Milepost 265W. Note: Newburn Bridge is single alternate way traffic controlled by lights. |
