Via Newburn Riverside Trail - HADRIAN'S CYCLEWAY
Follow railway path for about 300 mtrs and at tall sign post turn right down the wide new linking path and then left into Shelly Road.
Continue on road through the Newburn Industrial Estate to the east end of the Shelly Road.

The tall conical brick building which can be seen ahead, is the Lemington Glass Cone, the only one left of five originally on this site and now a listed structure. It stands 120 ft high and was restored in 1993 by English Heritage and Newcastle City Council.

This whole area has been reclaimed from the Stella North power station site and is being develop into the Newburn Riverside Industry Park, for Hi-Tech industries.
The large building with the moat around it is the headquarters of OneNE, the development agency for the North East.

Turn right onto the Newburn Riverside Trail following the wide track along and around the bend in the the river to the end of the trail at a tall white sail like pylon at the junction with dual carriageway road.

158.4 Turn right and cross Lemington Bridge, (with its fancy lighting columns), on the shared use pavement, up to the roundabout and 3-way sign post at the Toucan Crossing.
158.6 Keep right then bear right down the ramp onto the riverside promenade, passing Green Millennium Milepost (L) 263W and under Blaydon Bridge. (A1 Western Bypass).
  Hadrian's Cycleway NCN 72 now enters the urban landscape of Tyneside with good views of the riverscape. It is mainly off-road until the finish at using riverside promenades, railway paths and purpose built cycle tracks, with three short on-road sections
