160.9	From traffic lights turn right and follow William Armstrong Drive on the shared use path down and around to the left, to the Red Millennium Milepost 155W and bear right down the steep ramp to join the riverside promenade.
	There are many "Artworks" along the Riverside promenades, plus Landmarks and the famous Tyne Bridges. See separate sections for information and photographs.
161.3	Keeping on riverside promenade - ahead two miles, passing the Newcastle Business Park (L), Dunston Staiths on the south bank and under several high level bridges, the "Quayside Bar" (L) and Black & White Millennium Milepost 156W to reach the end of the promenade at the Swing Bridge.

163.0	Pass under the low stone archway, join the new promenade - pass under the Tyne Bridge and ahead to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
163.4	Look for the relief map of the River Tyne carved into the sandstone retaining wall at Wesley Square.

Down river to South Shields and Tynemouth

Up river to Scotswood and Wylam

A market is held on the Quayside promenade and road every Sunday which can make it difficult to follow Hadrian's Cycleway, this area can be bypassed by crossing the Swing Bridge to the south bank, then along NCN 14 and cross back again over at the Millennium Bridge.

Sunday Market Detour At the end of the promenade, pass under Swing Bridge approach arch and bear left across the cobbles, bear left into narrow lane. Turn left and left again over the Swing Bridge. At traffic lights, turn left under the Tyne Bridge, into South Shore Road - NCN 14. Pass the Sage Music Centre (R) and just after HMS Calliope RNR base bear left down access ramp onto the Baltic Square - cross square and use the Millennium Bridge to cross back to the north bank. Turn right to rejoin the Hadrian's Cycleway NCN 72 again.
