Mile Guide Notes
163.0 Continue up river on new promenade and under the Tyne Bridge and the low stone arch of the Swing Bridge approach road - rejoin promenade and pass under the High Level Bridge at the Black and White Millennium Milepost 156W .
162.7 Link to Newcastle Central Station
  Continue ahead 2 miles on the promenade until the end at the British Airways car park.
Skirt the car park and up the steep ramp passing Red Millennnium Milepost 155W (R) and follow shared use path alongside William Armstrong Drive up to traffic lights.
161.0 Turn left along the south side of Scotswood Road on new wide shared use path to traffic lights at junction with Whitehouse Road. 

There are many "Artworks" along the Riverside promenades, plus Landmarks and the famous Tyne Bridges. Look for the relief map of the River Tyne carved into the sandstone retaining wall at Wesley Square opposite the Crown Law Courts.

Note - this can be a busy and awkward crossing and a better alternative
is the Gateshead Millennium Bridge 1/4 mile down river

 

A market is held on the Quayside every Sunday which makes it very difficult to follow the cycle route, this can be bypassed by crossing the river.

Sunday Market Detour

Cross Gateshead Millennium Bridge and head up river on NCN 14 Keelman's Way.
Pass under the Tyne Bridge and at traffic lights bear right downhill and over
the Swing Bridge - follow the road around to car parks below High Level Bridge
where rejoin NCN 72 Hadrian's Cycleway.
