168.8 Following segregated cycle path pass Burgundy Millennium Milepost 81W continue straight ahead down hill through trees to the new footbridge over Willington Gut.

169.0 Ahead to end of segregated cycle track and turn right onto cycle lane along Western Road.
  The next section is subject to change - take care to follow the direction signs.
169.2 At end of cycle lane continue straight ahead - passing Albion Inn (L) and just before T-jcn bear left at dropped kerb onto shared use pathway alongside Hadrian Road.

Continue ahead and re-join road and pass in front of the Jet Petrol Station.
Continue ahead on Bewicke Road (20 mph zone).
At 3rd left turning - up Station Road and cross raised paving to join green segregated cycle path along Armstrong Road- and follow this path leading around to the"decativated" toucan crossing over Howdon Lane.

169.7 Cross over at Toucan Crossing and bear left to join off-road track passing the Blue Millennium Milepost 29E (L) and Aquarian Gate (L) - up the shallow gradient to a cycle track junction ** and bear left ahead for Tynemouth.

Down river to South Shields and Tynemouth

Up river to Newcastle

** Western link to Tyne Cycle and Pedestrian Tunnel and NCN 14
Turn right downhill passing through two access barriers and follow (NCN14) direction signs to
the Tyne Cycle & Pedestrian Tunnel entrance.
