Jan – New Year meeting – tree planting Newburn ramp NCN72

Feb     - up 14 down 72- removed major obstruction from cycle path

March – clean up day NCN72 Howdon Lane

April  – Gateshead Flower Show display stand –Ranger training day Newcastle NCN 14 reccy ride

May    - Green festival Sustrans display stand – YHA Edmundbyers weekend – ride to Corbridge - manholes

June  – NCN72 signing Newburn -  Bike Week rides ,Rowlands Gill – Gateshead Civic Centre display stand - Blyth to WB marshalling and display at lighthouse   

July   - MacMillan Cancer ride HCW -Sustrans display stand at Tall Ships event Quayside and then Gateshead flower show

Aug – RQ to Holywell RCR10 NCN1 – Great North Bike Ride

Sept    – tidy up Newburn Scotswood NCN72 – official opening of the new Willington Gut bridge on HCW - on location with Dutch TV Crew - putting up Finials on NCN signposts.

1st Biennial National Cycle Network Awards for Excellence

Voluntary Rangers

Winner: Doug Ridgway

The overall integrity of the Network has come to rely on an extraordinary group of 1,500 Voluntary Rangers, who each act as additional eyes, ears and hands for the local council and Sustrans on their adoptive sections.

The awards were presented to Doug Ridgway from Newcastle, and David Cuffwright from Cornwall as outstanding representatives of this whole group.

Nov    – Liaison ranger convention and ride (Liverpool) – NCN72 clean up             Newburn      

Dec     - Doug's CSV award - STARs Xmas gathering - ride Swing Bridge – Scotswood

Over last 12 months also had presence at Cycle Forums at NT / NCC / GMBC/ Hadrian’s Wall partnership- cycling steering group

2005 has been another successful year for STARS

Thanks to all the rangers within the Tyne area, the Newcastle and Stanley Sustrans staff, long suffering husbands, wives and partners for all your efforts.
