From the cycleway junction continue south passing HM prison (L) and join roadside path over Lustrum Beck to Rbt. at Portrack Lane.

Cross Portrack Lane and ahead on verge path and bear right passing caravan park (R) to join road at Hotel - follow road and bear left towards the Tees Barrage - bear right down and cross Barrage over the low level bridge across top of control gates.

On south side of Barrage turn left under road and follow riverside path and pass under approach to Newport Bridge.

Continue following track alongside railway - passing two gas tanks - under road bridge to road.
