From the Shields Ferry
At top of link span from the South Shields Landing stage turn left then right up to T-jcn with Ferry Street - Alum House PH (L).

Turn right and straight over at roundabout - at next roundabout take 1st exit into Coronation Street.

This next section subject to change and diversion when a new Super Market is built.

At end of cycle lane turn right across road and into lane - left and right alongside car park (L) - through barrier and up zig zag ramp - pass St Hilda's Winding House (R) and cross road.

Follow segregated cycle path (with white line) under road and Metro Viaduct up to Westoe Road.

Use the off set crossing to continue on the Westoe Cycleway uphill passing cemetry (R) to top - ahead into Sea Road and at T-jcn, turn right.

This next section subject to change and diversion when a new housing devepoment is built.

25 mtrs turn left then right and follow path through the recreation ground to Rbt. - cross road and follow shared use then sgregated cycle path alongside the Coast Road.

Continue ahead several miles passing Marsden Grotto (L), Marsden Kilns (R), Souter Lighthouse (L), MIllennium Milepost(R) and the Whitburn Lodge PH (L) in succession.

After passing the Whitburn Firing Ranges (L) - take first turn left - (sign hard to spot) then right - left down through estate bearing right at garages and left through barrier on to the cliff top path.

At small wooden signs turn right along cliff edge - passing Millennium Milepost (L) to road - tea kiost (R) - follow road around to left and at main road turn left on to sgregated cycleway alongside A183.

Ahead on SCP passing Super Market (R), Millennium Milepost (L) to 2nd Rbt.

Uphill passing Lighthouse (L) on the cliff edge to top of hill and over Roker Bridge.

This lighthouse was originally located at the end of the New South Pier at the entrance to the River Wear
it was moved here in 1990 after the pier was shortened and the light became redundant.

Along the upper promenade to next Rbt. - turn sharp left down the steep path to the lower promenade.

Beware of the very sharp right hand hairpin turn near bottom

Join road and after childrens play area bear left and join promenade and pass car parks (R) and Yacht Club house to the Millennium Milepost at the North Pier.
