Haswell to Hartlepool
 

 

From the junction at Haswell continue south on the railway path passing Shotton Colliery to cycle route junction at Wingate.

Choice of Route

South to Stockton via Grindon

Continue to Hartlepool

Bear left onto the Hart to Haswell Walkway and follow several miles passing under A19(T) road and A1086 road to follow track alongside railway line (L).

This next section can be complicated to follow as it passes through housing estates and Hartlepool Town centre. The roads can be quite busy - take care to look for NCN14 signs at each road crossing etc.

1/4 mile bear right into estate and Ocean Road - 2nd left on off road cycle path alongside King Oswy Drive - turn left into Bruntoft Ave. to junction with A1049.

Bear left on cycle path and straight over at Rbt. to follow cycle path between railway and road and ahead passing under rail bridge.

Turn right and cross A1049 road to join off road cycle path.

Ahead to A1048 road and bear right on cycle path on west side of road to A179 Rbt.

Cross straight over and continue on cycle path alongside A179 Marina Way - straight over at Rbt. and ahead on cycle path to next Rbt.

Keep ahead over rail bridge to T-jcn - turn left using Pelican crossing into into Church Street.

Take care busy road

Where A178 bends right - turn left over rail bridge into Victoria Terrace.

Hartlepool Railway Station is close by here.

Right into Maritime Ave and cross Fleet Ave. at safe crossing point - and ahead to end of Maritime Ave.

Turn left and right to join the sea front promenade to Seaton Carew.
