Turn
left on minor road to X-roads - turn left through Haswell - 300m bear
right to Haswell Plough.
At
T-jcn. turn right passing petrol station and then join segregated cycle
track on north side of B1283 road
(this avoids an dangerous right turn a little further
on).
Keep
right and join minor road on to Littletown. At T-jcn turn left - ahead to pass School (R) and then
right at next T-jcn at Sherburn into Parkhouse Gardens.

Right into Park Road - left into Gray Ave. - right into Usher Ave - left into Dowsley Road.
2nd turn right and bear left to
follow a rough track across open ground and turn left underpass under the Leamside Railway Line.
Bear
left uphill and follow rough track (Renny's Lane) and pass under the A1(M)
motorway to join road through an industrial area to T-Jcn.
Turn
left and at X-roads (Traffic lights) contiune straight ahead on lane.
After
passing Bent House Farm (L) next right and follow lane to Old Durham.
Before
end of lane turn right onto a track that leads down to the River Wear.
Follow
this track until you pass a footbridge (L) over the River Wear.

This
section through Durham can be difficult to follow and not fully signed.
Take care to look for signs and in crossing the various roads that are
encountered.
Sections of this route are subject to change as the route is upgraded.
Continue
along riverbank - passing footbridge (L) towards a road bridge. Under bridge - turn right - right again back under bridge and follow path through subway -
turn left along to bridge over A690 road.
Turn
left then right to join road that leads back under A690 road along riverbank.
Left
over foobridge left and back under A690 road again. Right and through
subway and follow path alongside A690.
Take
care when crossing next road and into Atherton Street - passing Bus Station
(L) to T-jcn at Allergate.
Turn
right and at A690 X-rds SO into Hawthorne Terrace.
Take care crossing A690
Take
3rd right turning into Lawson Terrace - through tunnel under East Coast
main Line and turn left steeply uphill.
Durham - Consett via Lanchester Walk Back to - Haswell
