Tyne Bridge to Blaydon

After passing under the Tyne Bridge - bear right before traffic lights and use the Toucan crossing over the busy road - turn right on SUP then left into Pipewellgate between Night Clubs (L+R).


Cross river link to NCN 72 via Swing Bridge

At present the section between Team St. Roundabout to the Swing Bridge is CLOSED
and you will have to follow the yellow detour signs taking you via Gateshead Town Centre.

Follow Yellow detour signs back along South Shore Road to junction after the Baltic
and turn right uphill for detour via town centre.
or cross the river over the Swing Bridge and continue along the north bank.

This is to allow for the construction of a Bus Only road for the Centre Link to the Metro Centre.
At the same time the riverside promenade is being constructed along which NCN 14 will use.


Continue along Pipewellgate bear right through acr park and join the reconstructed riverside promenade, pass under four high level bridges passing new houses (L) and turn left up slight hill to roundabout.
Look out for the sculputes located between the the Redheugh and Swing Bridges - see link below.

Turn right on shared use path alongside Team St. - pass 3 gas tanks (L) - over bridge and bear right.

Staying on Shared Use Path bear right under wooden footbridge to Tudor Rose PH (R) and ahead on SUP passing new housing (R).

New route will join here from right via girder bridge over R. Team and the new riverside promenade.

Turn right then left behind the Hotel and follow path and back alongside Colliery Road - a little further on, at sign turn right / left onto segregated cycle path and ahead over road to T-Jcn. at the rail bridge (L) - use safe crossing point to cross this busy road.

This road can be very busy with traffic to and from the Metro Shopping Centre
especially at weekends.

Turn left / right and under the low railway bridge - take care path is very narrow here.

Immediatly turn right alongside rail embankment and follow obvious path ahead under new bus only flyover, a large red footbridge and concrete road bridge to continue on a stoney track alongside railway.

Cross over the River Derwent on footbridge at side of rail bridge - turn sharp left down ramp to junction.
