View from North Bank at Ovingham showing Road Bridge on right with footbridge on left.

The road bridge is extremely narrow and there is no room to pass.
The traffic is not controlled by lights !!!
It is safer to use the Footbridge

Ovingham Bridge, built by the Ovingham Bridge Company and opened as a toll bridge in 1883.
The tollhouse still exists adjacent to Prudhoe rail station. It was released from toll in 1945
and later a footbridge was erected in 1974 alongside downstream of the main bridge.
