This page is dedicated to showing the location of some of the places to stop for food and drink that we have discovered over the years. The Wearside Family cycle Group have stopped at several of these venue, the ones we have stopped at we would certainly use again.

17) Minchella's in the car park at Whitburn, beside Latimers Garage –on NCN1/Bedes way; 18) Souter Lighthouse - good café - Can't readily watch bikes –on NCN1/ Bedes way; 19) Souter Lighthouse at a caravan park (half mile inland) –on NCN1/ Bedes way; 20) South Shields Promenade -Minchellas on Seafront- Can watch bikes from inside or outside–on NCN1/ Bedes way; 21) Fish and chip café at Southern End of South Shields Fun Fair. Outside picnic benches to watch your bike–on NCN1/ Bedes way; 22) Bede’s World, Jarrow. Old house in the grounds with a restaurant /cafe. Bikes can be safely left round the back of the building –on Bedes way.

Penshaw monument is quite often taken to be the site that the Lambton Worm rapped itself around in the Folk Song "The Lambton Worm". Whereas the true hill was "Worm Hill" which can be found behind The Havelock public house beside the North bank of the River Wear at Fatfield.
